When Wizard arrived at a local shelter, the tiny four-pound pup was in excruciating pain and unable to stand or walk. X-rays revealed a complete oblique fracture of his left front leg, along with concerns about possible internal injuries. For a dog so small, the trauma of being hit by a car could easily have been fatal.
Red Collar Rescue rushed Wizard to the emergency hospital, where he was stabilized and underwent orthopedic surgery to repair his broken humerus. The days that followed were challenging, as he remained in critical care and even battled a respiratory infection while recovering. Despite everything, Wizard’s sweet and resilient spirit never wavered.
With time, expert veterinary care, and lots of love, Wizard began to heal. Once strong enough, he moved into a foster home where he formed a special bond with another injured rescue, Lamb Chop. The two quickly became inseparable companions during their recovery.
Today, Wizard’s story has the happiest ending. He and Lamb Chop were adopted together by a loving family who couldn’t bear to separate them. Now these two best friends are living the joyful life they fought so hard for, safe, loved, and finally home.
