Thimble came to us at just 8 weeks old and 1.5 lbs, barely clinging to life. She had been dumped at the shelter with a severe necrotic prolapsed rectum and colon, a heartbreaking case of medical neglect. Her only chance at survival was a highly complex emergency surgery to remove the damaged tissue and reconnect the viable portions.
Thimble spent three weeks in 24/7 critical care, facing life-threatening complications, including difficulty passing stool, distention, and infection risk. Her medical journey has involved multiple hospitalizations, specialist consultations, and near-constant monitoring, but through it all, this little Teacup Pug has shown a fierce will to survive.
Today, Thimble is one year old and just 9 lbs. She’s still under close medical supervision and hasn’t fully recovered, but she’s come a long way. She’s playful, curious, and full of life, living with a dedicated medical foster family that’s been by her side every step of the way.
Thimble’s journey isn’t over yet, but we remain hopeful that continued care, patience, and love will help her thrive. She’s a special girl who reminds us every day why we do what we do.
