SUNKIST was dumped out of a car, unable to stand or walk. Thankfully, an officer was contacted and took her to the shelter. We received an urgent call, and rushed her to the ER! X-rays revealed old breaks in both back legs that had healed incorrectly, causing her pain and inability to walk. The right leg had a badly broken femur, and the left leg had a luxated patella and severe torsion of the stifle. Her right femur was surgically repaired, and is she now able to walk with the help of a sling.
Once she has recovered from this surgery, she will have a second surgery to hopefully repair her left leg. Sunkist is only 9 months old and 20 lbs. She still has a long road ahead of her, and we will be with her every step of the way!
We are happy to report that Sunkist has found her forever home!
