When Sabrina arrived at rescue, she was the victim of unimaginable cruelty. The two-year-old, 19-pound dog had been shot twice in the rear leg with a .45 caliber gun, leaving her femur and tibia shattered into numerous pieces and embedded with shrapnel. Despite her severe injuries and pain, Sabrina remained incredibly sweet and trusting.
Rushed into specialized care, Sabrina underwent a complex three-hour orthopedic surgery in hopes of saving her leg. The damage was extensive, and the weeks that followed were filled with uncertainty as she required a second surgery, metal plates and pins to stabilize her bones, and careful monitoring to determine whether her leg could heal, or if amputation would be necessary.
Through it all, Sabrina’s gentle spirit never faded. With dedicated veterinary care and the love of a foster home, she slowly regained strength and mobility, proving just how resilient this little survivor truly was.
Today, Sabrina’s leg has healed, and her story has the happiest of endings. While recovering in foster care, she formed a special bond with another rescue dog, C.J. The two became inseparable, and their new family couldn’t bear to separate them. Sabrina and C.J. were adopted together and now spend their days playing, exploring, and living the joyful lives they always deserved.
