When Puddles was found, she had been hit by a car and left to die in a rain puddle on the side of the road. The small two-year-old dog arrived at the ER in critical condition, in shock, and unable to stand. Her injuries were devastating; her bladder and small intestines had protruded through her abdominal wall, her pubic bone was split in two, her pelvis was fractured, and she had severe wounds across her body.
Puddles was rushed into a risky three-hour emergency surgery where her veterinary team worked tirelessly to repair her broken pelvis and place her organs back where they belonged. She nearly didn’t make it several times during the operation, and the days that followed were filled with uncertainty as she battled pain, infection, and the possibility that she might never walk again.
But Puddles had other plans. With weeks of intensive care and months of healing in a dedicated medical foster home,this tiny fighter slowly began to regain her strength. Step by step, she proved everyone wrong, walking again and rediscovering the joy of life.
Today, Puddles is thriving. At just 18 pounds, this gentle and affectionate girl loves going on walks, spending time with her foster siblings, and soaking up every moment of the life she fought so hard to keep.
