Pocket was just 6 weeks old and barely 1 pound when he was found abandoned in a cardboard box, left outside in the sweltering Houston heat with no food or water. Severely dehydrated and unresponsive, he was rushed to safety thanks to the kindness of strangers and the fast action of our team.
At the vet, we learned Pocket had a condition called hydrocephalus, which caused an open fontanelle, an opening in the top of his skull where fluid could build up and lead to serious neurological issues. Despite his fragile state, this tiny fighter showed a strong will to live.
Pocket went to a foster home with a family already caring for a senior Chihuahua with the same condition. They knew exactly how to care for him, and it didn’t take long before Pocket stole their hearts. They made it official, and Pocket is now home for good.
Today, he’s not only thriving, he’s passing his Canine Good Citizen test and working toward becoming an AKC-certified therapy dog, bringing comfort to people who need it most. From cardboard box to certified good boy, Pocket’s journey is a reminder that even the tiniest lives are worth fighting for.
