WILLOW‘s life was spared, but she faces many medical challenges from unknown trauma. Willow was brought to the shelter wrapped in a blanket, unable to move from the waist down. She would pull herself around with her front legs. It was heartbreaking to watch. Red Collar knew we had to try to help Willow, no matter the odds.
X-rays revealed multiple pelvic and hip fractures. The orthopedic surgeon recommended immediate FHO (femoral head ostectomy aka hip surgery) and surgical repair of the sacroiliac joint, as the beginning step, followed by several weeks of crate rest. Once complete, we will reassess her progress and determine the next steps in her recovery. Willow is resting well post surgery. Our ultimate goal is to help her regain use of both her back legs, whatever it takes!
