SAPPHIRE ROSE is another victim of animal cruelty. She was a stray who animal control tranquilized with a dart gun in order to catch. She was limping on her back leg, and x-rays revealed that she has pellets and shrapnel in her leg. Sapphire Rose was understandably very afraid of people at the shelter, which landed her on the kill list.
Some awesome volunteers managed to take Sapphire Rose outside the noisy shelter, and though still scared, she relaxed enough to be petted and take treats. We could not let this poor girl die just because some heinous human shot her and made her afraid.
It appears that the pellets and shrapnel caused soft tissue damage to her leg, but did not fracture any bone. With rest, TLC and a patient foster Mom, Sapphire Rose is now ready for adoption.
Sapphire is 2 years old and 35 lbs. She enjoys playing with her foster dog siblings and then some snuggle time on the couch with Mom. Housetrained and crate trained. We prefer she not go to a home with young kids – their quick moves make her nervous.
Please email info@redcollar.org to help Sapphire learn that there are good humans in this world who she can trust. Adoption applications can be submitted on our website, redcollar.org.
