Meet male puppy Mentor, born on August 24th. Mentor is part of the litter that we call the “University” puppies.
Mentor is one of 8 puppies born to Red Collar dog, Mensa, an adorable Beagle mix, Mensa was found by a Red Collar volunteer near the University of Houston. She was heavily pregnant and so tired she could barely walk. We took Mensa in and the puppies were born 2 days later. The other puppies can be viewed on our website, redcollar.org. We believe the puppies to be Beagle and possibly Lab mixes and estimate their adult weights to be in the range of 40 to 50 lbs.
Red Collar is currently accepting applications for these “University” puppies. They need to go to a home with experienced dog owners and we prefer they not go to a home with young children (under 12 yrs). A house with a fenced yard is preferred.
Applications can be submitted on our website, redcollar.org. We require adopters to be at least 25 years of age.
Please note – These puppies cannot be adopted as Christmas presents.
At adoption, spay or neuter surgery will be scheduled for an appropriate time (when pups are 5 – 6 months old) at a Red Collar approved vet clinic.
