Meet Immogene

IMMOGENE (L) is a victim of animal cruelty which involved a stolen vehicle and smuggling!
Houstonians may have seen this story on the news. A police officer made a routine traffic stop of what turned out to be a stolen van. The suspect’s vehicle had a strong odor of ammonia emitting from it, and the officer observed small cages containing numerous animals that appeared to be living in their own excrement and in need of medical attention.
Deputies discovered a variety of animals inside the vehicle, including the following:
19 Dogs of various sizes and breeds
6 Cats
2 Armadillos
1 White nosed Coatimundi which is a threatened and protected animal generally native to South America and Mexico
4 Ducks
The DA’s office filed charges for Animal Cruelty, Texas Game Wardens and HPD assisted at the scene, and BARC (the Houston city shelter) took possession of the animals.
Immogene was one of the many animals seized that night. She was petrified, and her scared behavior landed her on the kill-list at the shelter. Red Collar Rescue pulled her to safety, and she has come a long way in a short period of time. She is believed to be a designer “Pomsky” – Pomeranian/Husky mix at only 20 lbs and 1 year old. Immogne already has a new home waiting for her when she recovers from her medical needs.

So glad Immogene found a forever home!
