HANCOCK is only 5 months old and 7 lbs, and he almost did not make it to see the 4th of July! A citizen found Hancock and his sibling on the side of the road. They were lethargic, not eating or drinking, vomiting and having diarrhea. Sadly, his sibling passed away at their home. The citizen then brought Hancock to the shelter right before closing on the 3rd, and he tested positive for the often fatal Parvovirus. The shelter was going to be closed on the 4th, so a plan had to be put in place immediately to save Hancock!
With teamwork of the shelter staff, shelter volunteers and RCR, Hancock was rushed to the ER. He was immediately placed on IV fluids, anti-nausea medicines and more. He is now all better and will be able to celebrate many more 4th of Julys!
Hancock was named after John Hancock, the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.
