Please read this entire profile before placing an inquiry or application for Gryff. He is a beautiful boy but does require just the right home.
This is Gryff’s story.
The city animal control shelter could not place Gryff in their adoption program as he was deemed “too shy”., so Red Collar pulled him as we had the time to work with him.
Gryff IS very shy. Whatever happened in his past continues to haunt him and he has difficulty trusting people. He does eventually warm up and now comes over to his foster for pets and love. However, a strange noise or activity will cause him to retreat to his bed to watch things from a distance.
Gryff is a gentle sensitive soul . He very badly wants to be part of the family and gradually he is building the confidence needed to join in all life’s activities.
Gryff is looking for a home with a safe secure yard and a family that can help him focus on overcoming his fear. Ideally an all adult home willing to be patient and has experience with rescue dogs.
Gryff would love to have another dog in the home – one that is well behaved, confident and social (but not overbearing). Gryff loves to snuggle with the other dogs in his foster hone.
Gryff has so much potential and we want to see him succeed. When he is comfortable, he loves to play and be affectionate.
If you think you can help Gryff become the happy and confident dog we know he can be, please email us at info@redcollar.org.
Adoption applications can be submitted on our website, redcollar.org. Info on our adoption process can also be found on our website.
Please note – Due to Gryff’s shyness, we prefer he be adopted in the Houston area (or within a 2-3 hour drive from Houston). A long distance transport with people he does not know would be traumatic for him.
