GAGE is a far too common gunshot victim! He sustained life-threatening injuries while hanging out with the wrong crowd! This little guy (only 16 lbs) was running with a few large dogs, and they got into someone’s goat pen. The owner of the goats came out shooting! The other dogs got away, but poor Gage got shot, even though he wasn’t hurting anybody.
Because of the extensive damage to his muscles, tendons, tissue and bones, Gage’s leg could not be saved, and had to be amputated. But that was only the beginning. He contracted a pseudomonas bacteria from his gunshot wound, which required IV antibiotics. Despite treatment, he was still running a fever, and his wound was not healing, so he underwent a second surgery to remove more dead tissue.
But that is all behind Gage! He is now in a pawsome foster home, learning that there are some good people in this world! Gage is only 16 lbs and estimated 2 years old. Even after the cruelness he endured, he is still super loving and just wants to snuggle with his humans.
