This adorable 3-month old Catahoula pup (“Kat”) was found injured on Airline Drive and brought to BARC on April 5, 2011. Due to the severity of her issues, she was going to be euthanized before the end of the day. RCR heard about her and knew she deserved a second chance.
We picked her up and headed straight to the ER where she was put on IV fluids for shock, given pain meds, and had numerous x-rays taken. The x-rays revealed 5 fractures in her right front leg and a severely damaged paw. So off we went to the orthopedic surgeon where our little girl had surgery the next day. The worst part of Kat’s injuries were in her paw. Her bones were literally crushed and some were even missing thru the large open wound on top of her paw. She had to have 2 toes amputated and the rest realigned. Her leg was in a splint for several weeks, but is now all better and she walks just fine! Kat had a wonderful foster mom who helped her heal, and now Kat has been adopted into a wonderful forever home and even gets to go to work with her new mom!
