Horchata was only 7 months old when he was brought into the ER with vomiting and diarrhea, classic signs of the deadly parvovirus. His owners never vaccinated him, and instead of choosing treatment, they left him to be euthanized.
By chance, we were at the ER visiting another dog when Horchata arrived. We couldn’t let him die from neglect and took him under our care immediately. He was hospitalized and placed on IV fluids, multiple medications, and a feeding tube to help his body fight back.
Thanks to this emergency intervention, and Horchata’s will to live, he pulled through. The once-sick puppy grew into a happy, healthy, 60-lb boy with endless energy and a constant smile. Now named Huck, he found his forever family and is living his best life!
From nearly being discarded to becoming someone’s best friend, this is the power of second chances.
