When Gage was rescued, he was suffering from devastating injuries after being shot. The blast had nearly destroyed his front left leg, leaving severe damage to the muscles, tendons, and bone. He had lost a significant amount of blood and was rushed into emergency care, where he required a life-saving transfusion before doctors could stabilize him.
An orthopedic evaluation confirmed the heartbreaking reality: Gage’s leg could not be saved, and amputation was the only option. But even after surgery, his recovery was far from easy. Gage developed a dangerous pseudomonas bacterial infection in his wound that required powerful IV antibiotics and a second surgery to remove additional damaged tissue.
Despite the pain and cruelty he endured, Gage remained incredibly gentle and affectionate with everyone caring for him. His resilience and sweet nature quickly won over the hearts of his veterinary team and caregivers.
After more than a month of intensive treatment and recovery, Gage finally began his new chapter. Now happily adjusted to life on three legs, he has found a loving forever home where he is thriving, surrounded by the safety, comfort, and love he always deserved.
