Conrad – Recovered & Adopted

Conrad resting at the vet after surgery

Conrad was brutally attacked with an axe, and found near death by the police.  They rushed him to the shelter, and the staff immediately called RCR for help!

Conrad’s front leg was almost severed, and he had deep wounds around his neck.  It took a week in the ER with blood transfusions, IV pain meds, antibiotics and more to stabilize him.  He was then transferred to an orthopedic surgeon, who was able to save his broken leg with plates and screws.  Conrad needed weekly exams and bandage changes for 2 months, but we were hopeful he would regain full use of his injured leg.

Conrad is the sweetest boy to everyone he meets…both human and canine.  We are still in shock that someone committed such a horrible act of animal cruelty.  We have been told the authorities are investigating this case, and we are hoping a prosecution will follow.

After spending months on medication and bed rest at home with his foster parents and foster K9 siblings, Conrad was finally able to go on walks, play, and just be a happy boy!  Conrad is approximately 2 years old and 45 lbs.  We know Conrad will bring joy, love and fun to his forever home. He deserves only the best after everything he’s been though.  If interested in giving Conrad a loving forever home, please apply on our website or email info@redcollar.org.
